North West Coaching Forum: Review of the 2013 Forum

Over 70 sports coaches descended on the Alley Theatre, Strabane on Thursday 28th February to participate in the 2013 North West Coaching Forum. The Forum provided an opportunity for coaches from a wide range of sports to come and learn from a number of experts in various elements of sport.
Guest speaker and inter-county GAA player, Sean Cavanagh delivered a keynote presentation on his views of coaching and what coaching means to him. Other speakers included John Kremer, Mike McGurn and Sharon Madigan who delivered workshops on  sports psychology, strength and conditioning and nutrition.
Coaching and Club Development Consultant for the North West region, Michael Cooke, was delighted with how the event transpired. He said, “It was excellent to see so many coaches with a genuine interest in improving their knowledge and having a desire to learn as a sports coach. The speakers did an exceptional job and the content in their presentations and workshops really provided a plethora of knowledge and learning for those participating. As part of the NW Coaching and Club Development Plan we aimed to raise the profile of coaching across the region and support the education and development of sports coaches, I truly believe that the forum has helped to do both.”

The North West Coaching Forum is supported by the PEACE III programme and managed by the Special EU Programmes Body by the North West PEACE III Cluster.
